I don’t know who or where I would be without my school library. It was my safe space and my portal to better worlds than the one around me. Long live the school library ♥️
Kelly, thank you for including me in this love letter to school libraries! I really enjoyed reading the positive impact libraries have had on others. Katie Garcia's piece in this post reminded me of how I used to take refuge at my college's beautiful library when I needed a break from my stuffy dorm room, which was often, especially during my freshman year. Her excerpt took me right back to that time, to being a bit homesick, and to how at home I felt at the library.
I love this. Libraries are such important spaces to support. One of my favorite library moments actually happened after I became a mom at our local public library. I loved taking my kids to storytime and seeing families come together for reading, songs, and community. It was so special. 💛
Coming from the other side of table, I regret as an adult not utilising my local library/school library enough when I was younger and deeply wish I did as I think it would have helped me discover my love for reading much quicker. Equally I now use reading as an stress-coping mechanism, which I only wish I knew to do when I was in school/university. Thank you for sharing this post and all the work you do 💖
Thank you for including me, Kelly. Such a pleasure read! I didn't expect to feel so much joy thinking about my library experience. So glad you sent me the prompt to do so!

Same here, Elle. It's where I found myself and much needed belonging. <3

Thank you for including me! This was a wonderful love letter to libraries and a much needed call to action to support them and their work!
This is a beautiful tribute to the importance of libraries, especially in schools!
