5 on Five: A monthly bookish link party
Connect with other bookish Substack accounts each month
I love that Substack is old school social media without hashtags like it’s 2006 but it does make finding other bookish accounts difficult. Back in the day we used to have blog parties to find each other. 5 on Five is here to bring that fun back! Participating means you get to connect with other bookish Substack accounts while bringing more traffic to your own.
Check the schedule below to find the upcoming date and previous parties or skip further down to find out how to participate.
Schedule:
April 5th will be hosted by Katie Garcia at Hello Reader, Love Katie. The optional theme is Movie Adaptions.
March 5th was Spring Cleaning: Books for a fresh start, hosted by Charlotte at The Hidden Book Nook.
February 5th was Romance, hosted by Laura Bray at The Cozy Library.
January 2026 was books that feel like winter, hosted by Audry at Bookish AF.
December 2025 was comfort reads, hosted by myself at Book Beveling.
How it works:
On the 5th of the month, create a post that lists 5 books. Each month will have an optional theme because sometimes it’s hard to know what to write about. However, you are welcome to write any post listing five books—the last five you read, five you think are overrated, etc.
Publish your post on the 5th of the month. Joining in late is fine!
Include a link to the hosting Substack to let people know where they can find other participants. It’s also helpful if you include a link to this post so people can find out how it works if they want to participate in the future.
Drop your post link in the comments of the host’s 5 on Five post.
Read through the comments to find other bookish Substack accounts and see what books they chose. The February romance theme is a great example. We all choose books from a different angle—YA romance, midlife romance, romances with a 90s theme, and more.
Like and restack posts from other participants.
Bask in the new connections you’ve made. Anticipate the fun waiting for you next month.
Who is Invited?
Anyone who posts about books at least once a month. I’d love to have a collection of bookish and book-adjacent accounts that includes readers, literary agents, librarians, teachers, booksellers, and writers.
Don’t feel like writing a post this month?
I get it. Some days, thinking of even five books is hard. Good news—this is a low commitment activity. Join in on the months you feel like it. Skip posting but read through the comments to find new accounts to follow. Restack a 5 on Five post to help share the bookish account love.
